Injured Gambir should be rested

Injured Gambir should be restedEarlier, the 29-year-old left-hander Gautam Gambhir banged his head on the outfield while dropping a catch in the final Test at The Oval. The injury seems to have mounted and rest has been recommended. This means he will have to miss the rest of the tour in England.

Injuries and out of form of the players have added further to the Indian teams misfortune. The Former world best team in test cricket lost to England in the most frivolous way in the ongoing series, where the hosts marched ahead with a convincing 4-0 win.

Compounding to the problems, seniors like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh have returned home owing to injuries. Gambhir is fresh on the list. He visited a specialist as he was still troubled by the concussion and was complaining of impaired vision. He has been advised to rest and may now fly home. So india will have to face England without its key players in the T20 match at Old Trafford, as  Sachin also retired from the shorter format of the game.

The probable 13- squad for both the sides, for the Wednesday Twenty20 international at Old Trafford are:

England: Stuart Broad (Capt), Ravi Bopara, Tim Bresnan, Jos Buttler, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Craig Kieswetter (wk), Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Ben Stokes, Graeme Swann.

India: Mahendra Dhoni (Capt & wk), Varun Aaron, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Munaf Patel, Parthiv Patel, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, RP Singh.

After this the teams contest a five-match 50-over series, starting at Durham on Saturday.
