Lone Indian in Wimbledon, Leander Paes

Success alone talks, as per the veteran experts. That's what has happened to the Indian Tennis contingent that had left to Wimbledon. As of now just the ace Indian tennis champ Leander Paes is the sole survior at the venue. Rest all of them had a dilapidated return, say sources. In the recent debacle Rohan Bopanna and Jie Zheng crashed to a straight-set defeat in the last-eight stage of the mixed doubles event in London. The duo lost 2-6 5-7 to second-seeded Americans Mike Bryan and Lisa Raymond in just 55 minutes. The Duo had been totally out-classed by their high profile opponents.

However the good news is that fourth seeded Paes with his Russian partner Elena Vesnina have staved off a stiff challenge from the Belarussian combination of Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka to win 7-6 (3) 6-3 and enter the quarterfinals, on Thursday. The Indo-Russian pair were a class apart and  were on top of the match say live witness.

In the semis they shall clash with the Australian-Russian pair of Paul Hanley and Alla Kudryavtseva in the quarterfinals. Proving his detractors wrong Paes played to the best of his ability and hopes to grab te title with his Russian partner.  (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
