Cruising on the dazzling innings of Shikhar Dhawan and some substantial support from skipper Cheteshwar Pujara, India A sailed to the tri-series final gallantly, backed by a colossal score of 433/3 in 50 overs.
Shikhar Dhawan wowed with his career-best performance as he walloped to the record books with a historic 248-run knock. In fact, it was this 27-year-old left-handed who single-handedly directed team India A to the magnificent 39-run win over South Africa A yesterday, with his 30 boundaries and seven sixes, quashing Sachin Tendulkar (200) and Virender Sehwag (219) records.
"If Dhawan's first 100 came off only 86 balls, the second hundred came off only 46 balls as he raced to his maiden List A double hundred in only 132 balls with a push off left-arm seamer Beuran Hendricks' bowling at the LC de Villiers Oval," wrote a newspaper.
The puissant target of 433 proved to be an uphill climb for the home team who were knocked out for 394 in just 48.4 overs.
India A will take on Australia A in the final match tomorrow.
