Tollywood First Half Report: Beaten by Coronavirus:- Tollywood is the second biggest contributor after Bollywood among Indian movies. Like every year, January started with a bang in Telugu cinema. Both the biggies Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo ended up as massive money spinners during the Sankranthi season. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo showed pure domination and stood next to Baahubali in Tollywood. None of the next releases performed well after Sankranthi.

Nithiin's Bheeshma raked decent numbers in February. Nani's second production HIT made decent money in the multiplexes. When the summer season was about to begin, the whole world got attacked by coronavirus pandemic This brought life to a halt and all the theatres are shut. Several films that are aimed for summer release are lying in the cans waiting for the theatres to get reopened. The first half of Tollywood had a bitter experience because of the coronavirus outbreak. 2020 will not have any big releases and Tollywood has all its hopes on 2021.
