As the star status goes on increasing from film to film, it would be a big obstacle for the star, to make the sequel of his own film or similar genres, successful.
The statement was proved in the past in several star heroes issues. Starting with Pawan Kalyan, he is once a heart throb and girls all time favourite. Movies like Kushi, Tholiprema are an immense success and created a trend among the love stories in those days.
But if Pawan decides to do a love story now, it might not be accepted, as his star status can nowhere be compared from Kushi to today’s massive image. In fact, this point might be the one of the reasons for Theenmaar movie failure.
Same with Mahesh Babu. If he does the naughty characters like Murari now, people might not accept due to his huge star value. So the stars like these are bound to do the films, which suits their star image.
Star status exception for Allu Arjun
However, there are exceptions to this formula too, in the case of Allu Arjun. People loved, star hero Bunny in the naughty characters like Arya in his career starting and are still loving the same. Race Gurram is the perfect example for this statement.
More than the serious roles like Badrinath, Son of Satyamurthy, the audience are willing to see the same Bunny always. However, again, his role in Rudhramadevi is an exception to this statement.
So to play the safe game, a few of the stars are being identified with the same image from the start of the career. Stars like Ram Charan, Akhil always wished to be the action heroes and so started their careers with the same genre.
So, throughout their career, they can continue in the same action genre, which can never be affected by obsolescence. So it would be better, if the stars plan their careers properly and start accordingly, to secure good successes.
