33 people of a marriage party were killed and 35 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling was hit by an express train at the Kanshiram Nagar level crossing near Dariyagunj Railway station in UP this morning.
All the killed and injured persons belonged to a nearby village near Dariyagunj and were proceeding to attend a marriage. Police and civic officials rushed to the spot and got the injured admitted to nearby hospitals.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh announced an ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh each to the families of those killed and Rs. 50,000 each to the severely injured and Rs.10, 000 each to the injured.
