J&K: 400 civilians trapped in landslides rescued

As many as 400 civilians who were trapped in landslides last night in Khardungla have been rescued by the army. It is known that all of them were traveling in their private vehicles on Leh-Nubra 10 kilometre stretch and suddenly landslides took place. Since there was no way to escape, all of them got stranded.

Many of them who telephoned the police have complained of uneasiness and mountain sickness. The police along with the army plunged into the action took couple of hours to rescue all 400 civilians.

The medical assistance was provided at South to the trapped civilians. As many as 120 people had suffocation due to low oxygen levels in that area. They were administered oxygen. Most of them were foreigners. Nearly 150 vehicles got trapped.
