American Ambassador of India, Nancy Powell, said that it feels great to be in India on US' Independence day.

I her words “It feels great to celebrate the birthday of the World's oldest democracy in the Worlds largest democracy”.

She adressed the congregation at the American Centre by saying “ India and US have a lot in common and are very close to the people. Both our countries have colonial heritage, we fought for our Independence and Freedom”.

“We hae vibrant and diverse democracies and our relation is flourishing” she said. Adressing the youth of both the nations, she said “It is you the youth of India, and those in US, have a major role to play in strengthening the democracy and civil society to make sure that there is progress and development”.
