US apologises for the accidental killing of an Indian Fisherman

Following the incident of the accidental killing of one Indian fisherman and injuries to three others, Nancy Powell, US ambassador to India had called foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai and told him that she deeply regretted the loss. She also assured that US Government would sanction a full probe into the issue.

Prior to the call US had oficially confirmed that the US Navy had fired shots at the fishing vessels near Jebel Ali port in Dubai. Firing from the Rappahannock of the US Navy had injured 3 others and killed an innocent fisherman belonging to India.

Sorces said that the Indian Embassy in Washington DC was constantly in touch with the US government since midnight IST. Indian Ambassador for Dubai in Abu Dhabi is dicussing the issue with local authorities to act upon and investigate the tragic issue.
