8-month pregnant dies in car crash

Not long after the recent accident of an expecting mother in a BMW crash, another 8 month pregnant banker was killed in an accident after a speeding Mahindra Marshal crashed into them near NIB, sector 62 Noida on Sunday morning. The husband who was travelling along with her was critically injured.

After attending a birthday party they were returning from Indirapuram. Anupriya Nagarajan and Naveen Nagarajan were the couple who were the victims of the accident. One year into the marriage, they were hit by a Mahindra Marshal when the husband was driving a Volkswagen Polo.

The accident happened as Polo turned right to enter Noida from NIB traffic signal on NH-24 and the Mahindra vehicle carrying newspapers rammed the car from the opposite side. The mahindra was overspeeding and probably could have been over 100kmph as it had rolled over twice before coming to a halt, the investigating officials said.

Anupriya and her husband were trapped in the vehicle after the smash. Mahindra had hit them on the side she was sitting and was completely smashed. The passersby had to pull them out before taking them to the hospital along with two others who were in the Mahindra.

Raju, Pradeep and the husband had survived with injuries while Anupriya was declared brought dead by the hospital officials.

An FIR was booked under sections 279 (rash driving), 304A (causing death by negligence), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage) at the sector 58 police station, the SP Yogesh said.

"Keeping their rash driving in mind, we have imposed stringent sections on the accused," Kumar said.

Anpriya's husband had a neck fracture, and a few other hand injuries. He was discharged after treatment. The occupants of Mahindra had head injuries and were referred to the LNJP hospital, Delhi.

"While going out on Saturday evening, she said she would not go out again after coming back home from the birthday party. She never came back" her father-in-law said in great sorrow.
