PSY beats Bieber ; "Gangnam style" becomes most watched Youtube video ever overtaking "Baby"

K- Pop sensation PSY has dethroned teen pop icon Justin Bieber as the most watched celebrity on Youtube as his viral hit "Gangnam Style" overtakes Bieiber's "Baby" to be the most popular video ever in the history of the website. "Baby," which has earned 804 million views since its release in February 2010 got surpassed by "Gangnam Style," which was only uploaded on July 15, has a viewership of enviable 806 million .

Bieber surpassed Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance' as the most watched video in July of 2010 and still gets between 350,000-500,000 views every day. In contrast, Gangnam Style is being watched 7-10 million times a day!. Interestingly it's one of the most unliked vidoes as well with 3.5 million hits . It has found its way to the tops of music charts in more than 30 countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain and Canada, while providing material for thousands of parody videos.

YouTube started getting hits for Gangnam Style from South Korea in late-July from where it started getting picked in English-speaking countries. It hit its peak in the US in August and peaked in North America and Brazil in September. It hit its peak in Europe and India only in October. To much of PSY's own surprise the song became a point of discussion among key influencial figures ranging from President Obama, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon ,Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt  to Elan Degeneres etc and even made PSY gave a lecture in the Oxford University !

YouTube claims that PSY and Gangnam Style have been the top rising searches on the site and they are coming from across the globe. Considering it is not even an English music video, we will be seeing millions of people galloping around trying to mimic PSY's horse-riding move . If by any chance you have been living under a rock and haven't seen the video, it ain't too late, yet! (Seriously?)
