Pocharam quits assembly

PocharamBanswada TDP MLA Mr. Pocharam Srinivasa reddy, who quit the party for the sake of Telangana and joined the TRS two days ago, met the Deputy Speaker Mr Nadendla Manohar in his chambers in the Assembly this morning and submitted his resignation letter to him.

Earlier, Srinivasa reddy garlanded the martyrs’ memorial at Gun Park and left for the assembly in a procession to submit his resignation.

Srinivasa reddy told journalists after submitting his resignation that he was committed to the demand for the formation of the separate state of Telangana and would participate in the agitation till the separate state is achieved.

“For me posts are not important. Telangana state is above all these petty posts and I will continue to support and participate in the agitation,” Srinivasa reddy said, adding that more than 600 people lost their lives in the Telangana agitation.

He said he quit the TDP and joined the TRS as the TDP leadership went back on its promise of accepting the demand for Telangana state. “I don’t want to remain as a Telangana betrayer,” Srinivasa reddy said.
