Congress to contest both Kadapa, Pulivendula

kiran-VS-vivekanandaAfter a lot of dilly-dallying on whether or not to contest for both Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula assembly seats, the APCC has at last decided to contest both the seats in the ensuing by-elections.

After a high level meeting attended by congress leaders including chief minister Kirankumar reddy, Ministers D L Ravindranath Reddy, Y S Vivekananda Reddy and Md Ahmadullah, 20- point economic programme committee chairman Tulasi Reddy, MLC N Varadarajulu Reddy, Viveka’s son-in-law Narreddy Rajasekhar Reddy and DCC president Makam Ashok Kumar, Srinivas told media persons in Hyderabad Thursday evening that congress has decided to contest both seats.

Congress is considering the names of Kandula Rajamohan Reddy, D L Ravindra Reddy and N Tulasi Reddy and finally may zero in on one of them to take on YSR congress party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who is contesting the Kadapa Lok Sabha by-election. His mother Vijayamma is contesting for the Pulivendula assembly seat.

Viveka’s son-in-law N. Rajasekhar Reddy is ready to take on Jagan but since he is not an Indian citizen, congress is considering the other names.

The TDP is considering the names of M V Mysura Reddy for LS seat and M Ravichandra Reddy popularly known as Btech Ravi for the Pulivendula assembly seat.

Some congress men have suggested that Sobhagyamma, wife of Viveka, may be asked to contest against Vijayamma. But, Viveka himself is also ready to take on his sister-in-law in Pulivendula. The congress party high command, however, fears people may think that the whole election scenario in the district has turned out to be a family affair.
