TTD withdraws decision handing temples to ASI

Reversing its earlier stand, the TTD administration has withdrawn its decision to hand over the maintenance of its temples to the archeological survey of India (ASI).
TTD, ASI, maintenance of templesThe special administrative committee of the TTD today met and reviewed its decision to hand over the maintenance of the main temple of Lord Venkateswara and eight other temples to the archeological survey of India in the wake of stiff opposition from the general public, media and devotees.

The committee, after a thorough discussion on the issue, has decided to cancel the earlier resolution adopted for this purpose.

The committee at its meeting today approved the budget for the coming year for an estimated Rs.1640 Cr and decided to spare Rs.1.32 Cr for opening new counters to meet the growing influx of devotees to the temple at Tirumala.
