Quit saga poses no body blow to Kiran

Kiran Kumar ReddyThe government of chief minister Kirankumar reddy still seems to be enjoying majority in the assembly despite the resignations of the 84 MLAs of the Congress, TDP and PRP and some independents of the Telangana region.

In the 294 member Andhra Pradesh assembly, the Congress along with the Praja Rajyam Party has a combined strength of 173.

The Telugu Desam Party has 90 members in the assembly which included 37 from the T region. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has 11 and others make up 20.

The total number of MLAs who had resigned is 84 including 42 from congress, 37 from TDP including 4 rebels, 2 from PRP and 3 Independents. If the Speaker accepts all these resignations, the strength of the house comes down to 210 and CM Kirankumar needs just 106 members to have simple majority.

After the resignations, the congress would have 131 members and TDP 53 members while the strength of other parties would remain the same. So it would be a cakewalk for the Chief Minister to prove his majority in case of a trial of strength.
