In a mega blow to the YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan reddy, the state high court today ordered a CBI investigation into the Emar land distribution scandal to bring out the truth and submit a report.
Taking up sue motto a petition filed by Minister Sankar rao against Emar, the court rejected an appeal by the company for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations by an independent organization.
“There is nothing much to be heard from the company and a CBI inquiry will be helpful to bring out the truth,” said the court in its simple ruling.
The court order is in response to one of the four petitions filed by the Minister who alleged that thousands of crores of rupees were directed to the Sakshi Telugu daily of Jagan through the illegalities committed by the Emar in the allotment of plots.
As per the agreement entered into between the company and the state government on August 19, 2003, the APIIC allotted 535 acres of land to Emar on the condition that 26 per cent of the share should be given to it after development.
The Emar management, however, scandalously entered into an agreement with the MGF violating the terms of deal with the state government. Shankar Rao alleged that thousands of crores of rupees changed hands in the deal and the amount went to Jagan owned Saskhi daily.
