The former Karnataka Lok Ayukta Mr Justice Santosh Hegde hinted today that the CBI may arrest some more people in Andhra Pradesh in connection with the mining scam following the arrest of mining baron and former Karnataka minister Mr Gali Janardhan Reddy.
Reacting to the arrest of Janardhan reddy and his cousin and MD of the Obulapuram Mining Company Mr. Srinivasa reddy, Santosh Hegde said there are some people in AP connected with the illegal mining case and more arrests are likely to follow.
It might be mentioned that Mr Hedge, days before his retirement as Lok Ayukta, submitted a report on illegal mining in the Karnataka indicting the former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and the Gali brothers.
The Supreme Court also ordered suspension of mining in the state recently saying that the mining companies had violated the environmental guidelines.
