Chandrababu Rytu Yatra to begin on Nov 2

RaithuYatraFormer Chief Minister and TDP president Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu will commence his Padayatra highlighting the drought conditions in the state from Nov 2.

The Padayatra, to be limited to the drought-hit Mandals, will be undertaken in the name of Rytu Poru Yatra from Ananthapuram district. This was revealed at a media conference by Chandrababu at his party office NTR Trust Bhavan in Hyderabad today.

The Yatra will enter the Kadapa district on Nov 3 and Kurnool district the next day, according to the TDP chief.

Naidu observed that crops in an area of 37 lakh acres had dried up and the Government seems not concerned with the problem. “The situation has reached alarming proportions in 700 Mandals of 16 districts and the economic condition of the farmers in these areas is very pitiable,” Naidu said, demanding the government to come forward immediately to help the affected farmers.

The former chief minister attacked the agricultural policies of the Government accusing it of negligence in the supply of fertilizers. He said Government is supplying fertilizers to the mixing units but not to the farming community. “The prices of fertilizers are being raised every month,” Naidu said, adding that there is an emergent need to discuss the recommendations of the Swaminathan Committee in Parliament and implement them.
