Motkupalli arrested over ‘hanging challenge’

Police today arrested TDP Telangana Forum leaders Motkupalli Narasimhulu and Errabilli Dayakara Rao and their supporters at the Gun Park in Hyderabad.

Narasimhulu, who on Friday challenged the TRS chief KCR to prove his sincerity towards the Telangana issue by hanging himself to the martyrs’ memorial at Gun Park, arrived at the scene with a long rope to hang himself along with KCR this morning.

Motkupalli and Dayakara rao waited for KCR to arrive at the spot and then said at least his son K. Tarakarama Rao should arrive if KCR was not willing to accept the challenge. However, police who were present in large numbers at the spot, had arrested the TDP leaders as a precautionary measure.

With TDP leaders and activists raising slogans and arguing with police for a while before their arrest, tension prevailed at the Gun Park.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Dayakara rao launched a blistering attack on TRS chief saying that KCR was sitting idle at his farm house when the Parliament was in session. “If we don’t get Telangana during the present session, we will never get it,” he said and added that KCR, his family and TRS party have been exploiting Telangana for the last 11 years in the name of Telangana agitation.
