The Delhi High Court today granted bail to Mr Suresh Kalmadi who has been languishing in the Tihar jail for the last nine months in the 2010 Commonwealth Games corruption case.
The court also granted bail to Mr V.K. Varma, former director general of the Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games and co-accused in the case.
The court directed the accused to furnish bonds of R.5 lakh each and two sureties for the like amount. Justice Gupta of the High Court also directed the accused not to leave the country with out the prior permission of the court.
The CBI arrested Kalmadi on April 25, 2011 for his involvement in the embezzlement of the funds relating of the Commonwealth Games. (JUBS)
