Two students were killed and 8 others are feared drowned after a school bus turned turtle and fell into a canal at G.Pedapudi village in P.Gannavaram Mandalam of East Godavari district this afternoon.

Rescue teams have earlier recovered the dead body of a student.  A girl student who was rescued by the locals died on her way to the hospital.

Police, locals and rescue teams are still searching for the eight missing students. Reports said the driver of the Sai Teja Public School bus lost control while negotiating a turn allowing the bus to slip into the canal. The accident occurred when the students were going home after the school hours.

Locals said the bus was carrying 30 students in all but 20 students were safely brought to the shore by the villagers and police. (J)
