Guntur sizzles hot at 44 degrees temperature

Come summer, Andhra Pradesh would be one amongst the states in the country that records highest temperature. While all parts of the state have already recorded high temperature, Rentachintala in Guntur district topped amongst the list with 44 degrees Celsius.

People are literally forced to lock themselves at in their houses in order to escape the heat of the sun.  Cities that recorded 42 degrees Celcius were Tirupati, Kavali, Ramagundam, Hanamkonda, Nizamabad, Ongole, while Nandyal, Bhadrachalam, Medak, Mahbubnagarm, Nellore, Bapatla and Hyderabad recorded 41 degrees Celcius. On the other hand, Vijyawada, Kurnool, Nalgonda and Nandigamae recorded 40 degree Celsius.

Notably, heat is accompanied by hot winds. The Meteorological department has said that the hot winds travelled from northern part of India and the situation would be the same next week too.

Sales of local-made coolers touch sky:

People don’t mind shelling any amount of money for beating the heat in the summer. Whilst cold drinks and water melons are best choices when one steps outside home, coolers are undoubtedly most sought after ones in the state especially in summer. Otherwise, no one would go for a local made cooler that hardly works for a couple of months. Even in Hyderabad, coolers have popped-up in markets and are kept on display on roadsides just like vegetables and fruits. (Phani)
