Revanth Reddy approves new Metro Routes:- Upon his return from a recent foreign trip, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has given approval to the route plan for the next phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. This phase will focus on connecting the Shamshabad airport to various parts of the city. The new routes, spanning 70 kilometers, have been carefully selected to ensure convenient transportation for both the general public and affluent commuters. Recognizing the growing traffic congestion and the need for future public transportation, the Chief Minister has instructed officials to efficiently expand the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
He has also decided to scrap the previously proposed airport Metro Rail routes from Raidurg, as he believes they were not beneficial for the majority of people. Instead, a new route map has been prepared by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), which will extend the Metro Rail network to previously untouched areas and provide direct connectivity to the airport.
The primary aim of the fresh plan is to offer affordable public transportation to a larger population. According to sources, the previous government's proposed network would have resulted in significant expenses while catering to a smaller number of individuals through Metro Rail services. It has been suggested that the previously planned route from Raidurg to the airport would primarily serve the interests of the real estate sector.
As per sources, the Congress government's new routes will enable them to achieve their objective of providing Metro Rail services to a considerable number of lower-income and middle-class individuals. Currently, the Hyderabad Metro Rail spans 69 kilometers across three corridors, namely Miyapur to LB Nagar, JBS to MGBS, and Nagole to Raidurgam. In the second phase, the network will be extended from Secunderabad Jubilee Bus Station to MGBS all the way to Chandrayangutta crossroads. Additionally, four new corridors will be constructed as part of the metro rail network.
