TTD bags 61 Cr from hair sales in e-auction

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, on Friday announced that the temple made a whopping Rs 61.72 Cr from the sale proceeds of hair. Lord of the seven hills, Balaji or Lord Venkateswara is the virtual paradise for his devotees and most of the offer their hair in return of favours granted on them by the Lord. Such accumulated hair was auctioned online and fetched the amount. TTD sold human hair weighing 89.413 tonnes through an e-auction. This was the latest developmemt in the Lord of Seven Hill temple.

The main man behind the succesful auction was the TTD Joint Executive Officer K  S Srinivasa Raju. He oversaw that the hair was segregated evenly and uniformly based on the lengths. Such segregated hair was made in to a tuft and the auction was conducted. The various hair fetched the Temple authorities  a sum of  Rs 61.72 Cr. The bidding itself fetched the TTD Rs 2.11 Lakhs.

As per sources, hair varying between 16 to 30 inches fetched an amount of Rs 53.54 Cr at a bidding price of Rs 18,700 per kilo, while the hair varying between 10 to 15 inches earned a remarkable  profit of Rs 6.18 cr. The variety of hair ranging from 5 to 9 inches in size fetched Rs 93.57 lakh. The last variety of hair, which is less than 5 cm in size fetched Rs 40 lakh to the TTD, while, the grey hair fetched them Rs 65.18 lakh. (With inputs from internet-AarKay)
