Commissioner ensures protection to north east people in city

A team of people from north eastern states today met commissioner Tirumala Rao and urged him that security should be provided to the people from north eastern states residing in Hyderabad. The team met the commissioner in the wake of the rumours that north east people would be attacked as a mark to avenge Assam riots, which killed over 70 people.

Similar rumours were rife in Bangalore too, which purportedly made at least 6000 students leave for their states in north east.  And the situation seemed to be the same in Hyderabad.

Even in Hyderabad, several people have already left for their states. The police said that there were over 1000 people from north east residing in Hyderabad, and nearly 45 per cent of people have left for their states. He asked the team and people not to worry over the rumours.

The police commissioner told the team not to get panic and asked them to reach the police on these numbers 9490617100 and 23261166 in case they receive any threatening calls.
