Tension atmosphere is prevailing at Mahankali temple, which is in the old city of Hyderabad. A large number of devotees were taking out a procession demanding the police for arresting the culprits for allegedly resorting to theft in the temple. The police, however, plunged into the action and stopped them for taking out rallies stating that there was no permission for protest rallies. This in turn led to debates between the police and devotees.
Meanwhile, city police commissioner Anurag Sharma arrived at the temple to take stock of the situation. He even held talks with the committee members of the temple. It may be recalled that robbers broke in to Lal Darwaza Mahankali temple and decamped gold ornaments of the deity including the diamond bindi.
