The 36 hour Samara Deeksha proposed by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee headed by Professor Kodandarm, was denied permission by the state home ministry, citing security reasons. But the leader had made a call to start the protest at the place of their stay, instead of meeting at the Indira Park, in the capital if resisted by security personnel. Responding to the call many leaders squatted at the T JAC office near the Old MLA quarters and at various other places.
Security personnel who were in abundant numbers sensing a tensile situation, urged the leaders to detest from the protests, however their bid went in vain. TRS leaders who squatted at the T JAC office were arrested by the police personnel. Noted leaders like KTR and Swamy Goud were among the arrested while in protest.
Many students from the Osmania University were also arrested as they were planning to protest at the Raj Bhavan.
In another event, prominent TRS leaders, Harish Rao, Etela Rajender and Jupally Krishna Rao were planning to protest at the Assembly. But as the security personnel were not allowing them to do so, the group squatted in front of the Gandhi Statue. They shouted slogans against the ruling government.
Tension right now around the central city is quite tense and traffic is disrupted around Tank bund and on the routes towards the OU.
The Samara Deeksha was a way for the T aspirants to show their strengths to the centre of the strong public wave. This would act as a catalyst to turn the decision to be announced by the high command, in their favor. (Wishesh AarKay)
