Oh yes, finally AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has declared Vijayawada as the capital of new Andhra Pradesh state. The time of announcement got changed and at 11:15 AM, Chandrababu Naidu read out the cabinet declaration which was made on September 1st. Also the Chandrababu said his government will develop three mega cities and 14 smart cities in the residuary state.
The three Mega cities are Vijayawada, Vizag and Tirupathi while the 14 smart cities are Srikakulam, Rajamundry, Kakinada, Srikakulam, Vizainagaram, Ananthapur, Kurnool, Kuppam, Kavali, Ongole, Guntur, Nellore. Apart from this Chandrababu also announced several projects in respective cities like Horticulture University, IIIT University, Tirbal University, IT hubs, Hardware Industry, Nuclear Fuel Complex, Railway Wagon factory and many more.
Opposition leader YS Jagan has welcomed the decision of Vijayawada as capital but said 30,000 acres needed for the new capital.
However, protests fired up at Rayalaseema, except in Chittoor district, rest of the districts witnessed agitation and several student unions rammed on the national highways. The police have arrested several protestors disturbing the normalcy.
