MOM never disappoints

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian Space Research Organization [ISRO] scientists on the success of Mars Orbiter Mission [MOM].India became the first Asian country to reach Mars and also the first in the world to enter Martian orbit in its first attempt. Thh Mars Orbiter Mission is India's first interplanetary mission which was launched on November 5, 2013 with the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle [PSLV].

The MOM was approved by then UPA government in 2012 and has spent around Rs 450 crores for this mission. The scientists were carrying plan B, if the plan A fails but in the first attempt, they got through. The Mangalyaan mission was to manoeuvre the spacecraft and slow its speed using Newton Liquid Apogee motor engine. Starting the liquid enginer was crucial in controlling the velocity of the craft as it enters Mars' orbit.

President of India Pranab Mukherjee to congratulated the scientists and termed it as a historic achievement in India's space capabilities. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated in his own style and said, "MOM never disappoints. "Through your brilliance and hard work, you have made it a habit, of achieving the impossible," said Modi.
