Telangana government is planning to sell the liquor in pegs too. Each of such peg would cost Rs.5.
Recently, the plan of selling Liquor in tetra packs in AP was considered and the proposal it yet to get its approval. Now, Telangana government is coming forward with a unique proposal, i.e. to sell the liquor peg wise.
But the main intention of the government, behind making this new proposal is different. It is trying to put an end to Gudumba drink and at the same time, also increase the government revenue through increasing the sales.
Regarding this, along with introducing cheap liquor, the government is planning to increase the number of wine shops across the state. Presently, the government is planning to give the license to set up cheap liquor shops in the places, where Gudumba is being sold.
In these shops, the cost of 180 ml of cheap liquor would be Rs. 30 and 90 ml of cheap liquor for Rs. 15 to Rs. 20. The government would grant the licenses basing on proper population estimates and the demand for the liquor in the concerned areas.
2000 fresh wine shops
The present count of the wine shops is Rs. 2216, the government is planning to increase the number by establishing 2000 new wine shops.
Andhrawishesh view
The officials are planning to completely ban Gudumba in the state and substitute cheap liquor in its place. The revenue of the government would increase and in fact, it might be necessary to it, to accomplish the various welfare tasks proposed by it. But, is it necessary to do such things at the cost of people’s lives is a question now.
