Nirbhaya: A BPO employee gang raped in Bengaluru

A BPO employee aged 23 years was gang raped in a cab like vehicle in Bengaluru  last weekend.

A new Nirbhaya case was registered, where the old one was still left as an unforgettable one. The incident took place in Bengaluru for a lady, who was waiting for a private vehicle to go to her home from the office.

Reportedly, the girl from Gwalior, is working in a BPO company in Bengaluru and on Saturday, after completing her work, she started from the office and waited for a private vehicle to reach home.

Meanwhile, a vehicle, which pretended to be a cab, reached her and the innocent girl hired it. On the way, two men entered into the vehicle. It was then, she doubted on the situation. But before she could take any action, those men ruined her life, by raping her in the vehicle itself for about two hours, while the vehicle is roaming on the streets of Bengaluru.

Later the men left the woman, who went to the unconscious state, nearby a temple in Madiwala area. The local auto drivers noticed the woman and joined her in the hospital. Meanwhile, her sister, who is living in the same city, rushed to the place and upon knowing the incident, a case was registered under Nirbhaya act on the culprits.

Birth of Nirbhaya act

In the past, when a 23-year-old paramedical student was gang raped by six men, a new law came into existence that provided a life term and even death sentence to the rape culprits.

Out of the six rape culprits, four were on the death row, other one was found dead, suspecting suicide and another one was a juvenile, who is expected to release by the end of the year.

Author’s view

In spite of the acts being implemented so seriously for the rapes in the country, the incidents are continuously repeating and mostly the corporate women employees are being targeted in the incidents.

On the other side, the delay in punishing the culprits might even lead to boost up the other culprits to commit these type of crimes. So it would be better if the officials inquire the case quickly and make sure the punishment is implemented soon.
