In a shocking incident, a BJP worker was killed in a village in this district.

"The deceased, Sunil Dongre's body was found near an educational institution on Monday morning, a senior police official said.

The body bore multiple stab injuries in the stomach and head," he said, adding "the murder had taken place on November 6 in Sonala village in the district."

"We are investigating the case and will soon ascertain the motive behind the murder," police said.

"Dongre, 35, was an aide of Aurad MLA Prabhu Chavan and enjoyed clout," they added.

"Dongre owned over 50 acres of agricultural land in Sonala and was financially sound," police said. MLA Chavan visited the deceased's house and sympathized the family members.

Earlier also on October 16, Rudresh (35), an RSS worker, was supposedly hacked to death by two unidentified men.

In another incident, on November 4, BJP Yuva Morcha leader J Ravi (30) was also found dead in strange circumstances near Magali in Mysuru district, with his family. The party alleged that the leader was murdered.
