Maratha Protests: Devendra Fadnavis Promises Grant:- Marathas have been protesting across Maharastra for special reservation in education and jobs across the state. The protests turned violent and five people lost their lives. With pressure building up all over and the opposition parties slamming for Government's word, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis revealed his stand. He said that they are committed towards the reservation of Marathas. However Devendra Fadnavis clarified that an ordinance cannot be issued on this.

"Some of them suggested an ordinance for reservation which is not possible. Our Government is working on this and a legal scrutiny is needed after which it can be implemented. A legal procedure is to be followed as per the 1992 order" said Devendra Fadnavis. He spoke about this during the book launch on Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj (son of Maratha king Shahu Maharaj). After Monday violence, Tuesday has been calm and large number of police personnel have been deployed in Chakan, near Pune. The Marathas represents 32% of the state's population and were demanding for reservation from the past few years.
