In a shocking incident, a man saw an insect inside a saline bottle in Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.
According to the incident, Bhikshapati had admitted his 6-year-old daughter, Sai Prabhalika in Gandhi Hospital on December 7. The girl was undergoing treatment for both fever and pneumonia. On Friday, the girl's condition started deteriorating. The doctors then put her on saline.
As her condition started deteriorating again, doctors suggested that the girl needs to be put on ventilator support. They took Bikshapati's consent. During that time, he suddenly noticed fly inside the saline bottle. When he noticed more carefully, he saw the saline bottle filled with fungus from inside.
Bhikshapati got so angry that he immediately took the saline bottle photo. He alerted the doctor after which the saline bottle was changed.
Deputy superintendent Dr S.V. Masood said that "all the bottles of the batch are being checked."
“The paediatricians have examined the patient and she is suffering from complications due to pneumonia. While administering the saline, negative pressure is given by putting a pin. The insect must have gone inside the bottle during that time. A live insect cannot survive in a saline bottle. We are going to thoroughly investigate and check our stocks again. Presently, the girl is stable and recovering,” Dr Masood said.
Telangana state health minister Dr C. Laxma Reddy has urged that the particular batch should be completely set aside and should not use till all inquiries were properly completed. A committee of senior doctors has been formed to probe the matter.
State Commission for Protection of Child Rights member Achyut Rao has registered a complaint with the director and commissioner of the medical and health department. A complaint was registered with the superintendent of Gandhi Hospital. The girl belongs to Mondrai village of Jangaon district. They presently live in Uppal.
