Hyderabad Court Rejects CBI’s Plea Against YS Jagan In DA Case

The CBI’s plea was rejected by a Hyderabad Court, seeking cancellation of the bail granted, to YSRC Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Allegations against Jagan were made claiming that he was influencing witnesses and tampering with evidence. The court had ordered Jagan to file a counter by April 7. In his counter filed before the court, Reddy said that he is not involved in any way, in the running and management of the Sakshi media. The policies of the media are decided by its editorial by its editorial board, and its journalists work independently, stated Jagan. The court, meanwhile, had adjourned the the hearing on the DA case of the YSRC Chief to May 9. To support its charge that Jagan was influencing the investigation in the case, the CBI submitted to the court, the interview clippings of the Ex Chief Secretary of AP, that was published by a regional newspaper owned by Jagan.

The YSRC Chief was arrested in March 2012, and released in September 2013, after 16 months imprisonment, on the condition that he would not tamper any evidence or influence witnesses. Jagan is accused of getting various individuals and firms, to invest several crores in his businesses as a “quid pro quo” for favours bestowed on them during the tenure of his father Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. YSR was the former AP CM, who served his tenure from 2004 to 2009. The CBI has filed more than 11 chargesheets in this case in the CBI special court in Hyderabad. Apart from Jagan, 12 others have been accused in the case, including his auditor and Rajya Sabha member, V. Vijay Sai Reddy.

This could be a major relief to the YSRC Chief !
