Eight-Year Old Boy Dies In Elevator Mishap In Hyd:- In a tragic mishap, an eight-year old boy identified as Cholangi Venkata Thaswanth, died after he was hit by the apartment lift in Karmanghat in Saroornagar, Hyderabad. The boy was playing in the cellar of an apartment building.

The boy, peeped into the pit below the lift, standing on the parapet wall. The lift, crushed the boy between the lift and the wall. The lift came down from above. There was no safety grills surrounding the lift, which led to the incident, said the police. Still, a case of suspicious death has been booked, so far. The police said, after investigation, they will alter the case.

On Sunday morning, Thaswanth and his younger brother Srinath were playing in the cellar, while their father Srinivas was busy cleaning the cars of the residents. The residents of the building heard a loud cry, at around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, and rushed to the cellar.

Initially, the residents could not find the source of the noise, but they found blood near the lift and saw that Thaswanth has been struck by the lift and his head was partially crushed.  Thaswanth stood near the parapet wall and peered into the eight-foot- deep pit in which the lift would land. The parapet wall was around two feet high, said the police.

“No case was booked against the builder for now. We are trying to find out whether there is any negligence on part of the builder considering the elevator’s position,” the police said.
