Narendra Modi has a Special Message for Ministers:- Indian Prime Minister has a special message for his council of ministers during a meeting held with the union cabinet. Modi during the meeting urged the ministers to promote and buy Indian goods instead of foreign goods. “People are talking about Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), but if we buy our own products, then there will be enough demand for domestically manufactured products" said Narendra Modi. The Indian Prime Minister did not name any country during this discussion. The Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), an RSS affiliate, has been opposed to India opting for RCEP.
Ashwani Mahajan, the national convenor said that if RCEP is allowed, countries like China will sweep up our revenues and they are already dismantling the Indian industries. Due to this, Indian industries will end up in hefty losses. RCEP is a mega free trade agreement (FTA) that was proposed between the 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) members and their six trading partners - India, China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. India recently opted out of the RCEP fearing that China will emerge as a threat for the Indian industry and markets. Modi asked the ministers to launch a campaign to bring awareness and promote local goods across the country.
Narendra Modi even asked his council of ministers to cut down their expenses by 20%. Modi also wanted them to focus on programs like Swachh Bharat and Fit India campaign.
