While most people flee at the sight of a coackroach or kill it. Not so in China, where extracts of cockroach is a delicacy for some Chinese, reported Quartz. Cockroach extracts are favored for their healing properties.

This miracle food has the ability to reduce inflammation, cure cancer, tuberculosis, cirrhosis and even has age defying properties. According to reports, in the  Yunnan province price of pulverized roaches can go upto $89 a pound. Infact, five pharmaceutical companies have come together to form the Sichuan Treasure Cockroach Farming Cooperative and have contracts with ranches for regular supply.

All is well as long as the roaches are under control, but things can go awfully wrong and affect an entire neighborhood in case the cockroaches flee from the farms.
