The whole confusion only means that this year it is most unlikely that any of the Indian cricketers are going to get the coveted 'Arjuna' Awards from the sports ministry. This was due to the key gap in the communication between the BCCI and the union Sports Ministry. As the dead line is fast approaching to send the nominations, BCCI has not forwarded any. This despite of the home team grabbing the World Cup in 2011 and of course Virat Kohli was in lime light with his immaculate ODI scores.
"We haven't received the Arjuna nomination from the union sports ministry. I can tell you that this has happened for the first time that we haven't received the format which requires be filling up and also duly signing by our nominee. When they haven't sent us intimation, how do we send a name," BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty told PTI.
"The process of selecting a cricketer and getting all the formalities done takes some time and only the people in the sports ministry can tell as to why we didn't get the form," Shetty said. On the other hand the sports ministry retorts that the form is available online as usual. Probably ego clash or unforeseen formalities might deprive our star performers of the most valuable recognition. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
