Maxwell destroys Chennai

Glenn Maxwell of Punjab Kings XI again played an heroic innings but missed an IPL ton yet again. Chennai Super Kings [CSK] captain MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first. Punjab opener Sehwag was scoring at quick pace while the other one was dismissed cheaply for just three runs. Maxwell came at first down and from the first ball, he started hitting the ball hard. After Sehwag dismissal, Maxwell along with Miller attacked CSK bowlers. Maxwell hit all around the part and score 90 runs of just 38 balls which included eight sixes and six fours. At the end Punjab captain Bailey and Johnson scored at rapid pace and moved the scorecard beyond 200 runs. Punjab posted 231 runs.

CSK right from the beginning were never interested in chasing the huge total as they made very slow start. Smith who is super form, failed this time and was removed in the very first over by Sandeep Sharma. McCullum and Raina tried to score runs but Punjab bowlers bowled in tight lines. Raina, McCullum, Jadeja were dismissed in quick session. Then came Faf du Plessis and Dhoni however the run rate was at untouchable level. So CSK batsmen tried to score more runs to keep up the overall net runrate. Finally CSK lost the match by 44 runs.

Maxwell was awarded Man of the Match.
