India's Suresh Raina has guided the team to victory in the second ODI against England at Cardiff. This win was a much needed one for India which is under severe pressure with humiliating defeat in Tests series. England captain Cook won the toss and put the visitors to bat first. Opener Shikhar Dhawan misery form continues as he was dismissed for 11 and Virat Kohli too extended his poor form and removed for a duck. But it was another opener Rohit Sharma along with Rahane took the game away from England. Both scored decently and quickly which increased the net run rate. In this course Rohit completed his half century while Rahane who was looking good was dismissed by Tredwell. Then came Suresh Raina who attacked English bowlers from first ball. After Rohit's dismissal along with Dhoni, Raina reached the ball to boundary every now and then which eventually resulted in huge score.
Chasing England made a solid start with captain Cook and debutante Alex Hales putting a half century stand. But it was Shami who got the break removing Cook and first down batsmen Ian Bell in a single over. This put England on back foot and Indian spinners did the remaining job. Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin dismissed English batsmen like how Indian batsmen got out in Tests. Jadeja took four wickets while Ashwin and Shami took two wickets each. Suresh Raina was awarded with Man of the Match trophy for his maiden ODI century in overseas.
