"A man of true science... uses but few hard words, and those only when none other will answer his purpose; whereas the smatterer in science... thinks, that by mouthing hard words, he proves that he understands hard things."
Likewise, truly successful people keep things simple.
What is wrong with complexity?
First, the human mind can only handle 7 +/- 2 thoughts at any point in time. Complexity puts a greater demand on human thought bandwidth and can quickly fatigue the brain.
Second, as you introduce more complexity, you are introducing more points of failure. Complexity increases risk. Greater complexity introduces greater possibility of greater errors. Nothing that works needs errors.
Third, there are few people who can handle great complexity. As things get more complicated, there are fewer people that you can delegate your task to.
Fourth, for the same result, a complex task is more time consuming than a simple one. Time is a very precious resource. It is not worth wasting a part of your life for little or no additional value.
On the other hand, simple is elegant and refreshingly pure. There is a childish innocence about it that is beautiful. When something simple is done well, there is an immense sense of satisfaction.
Simple is easy to implement. It does not consume much thought and leaves the brain quite relaxed.
It is much more convenient to control risk and errors in simple tasks.
Simple tasks can be delegated easily since there are many more people capable of implementing it.
Simple tasks can be completed quickly, leaving more time for other tasks.
Keep life simple. It can be very satisfying.
