Onion Prices: Farmers Did Not Gain Anything:- The prices of onions reached all-time high and the common man is struggling hard to buy onions that touched Rs 100 per kg. As per the latest update, the price is expected to stand high till February next year which will sure be something unbearable. Though the Centre is trying hard to bring things to control, it is heard that it would take more time for the prices of onions to return to normal. There is huge shortage of onion crop and due to this, it touched Rs 100 per kg.

The biggest surprise is that the onion farmers are not benefited with the rise in the price. Most of the farmers complained that their onion crop did not fetch the appropriate price. There are also talk that some of the farmers were unable to sell their crop because of the poor quality. The Director of Nafed Nasik region Nana Saheb Patil explained the reason of soaring. The monthly onion consumption of the country is 15 lakh metric tons and now the supply is just 10 to 12% of the requirement. This is the reason why the prices crossed Rs 100 per kg.
