Rainfall Continues to Lash Maharashtra:- Maharashtra and Mumbai have been lashed by heavy rainfalls from the past few weeks. The rains continued on Sunday and normal life got disrupted in major regions of Maharashtra. This had an impact across the parts of Andhra Pradesh and Assam. Atleast four people died in rain related incidents in Mumbai, Pune and Palghar districts in the state. Thane Municipal Corporation along with the Indian Army conducted a 12-hour operation that rescued over 8500 people from Diva which is located 50kms from Mumbai. The operation took place in boats.
400 people living across the banks of Mithi river and they were evacuated. In Pune, 2500 people got rescued and all the educational institutions will remain closed today. Almost 90 people lost their lives in Assam. Over 18,000 people have been evacuated across East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. In Gujarat, rains lashed Vadodara. Hundreds of villages have been evacuated.
