850 Arrested in Delhi for Flouting Diwali Norms

850 Arrested in Delhi for Flouting Diwali Norms:- Several states across the country imposed a ban on firecrackers for Diwali this year considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the increasing air pollution. Among the banned states, New Delhi is the one and the bad air quality has been worrying the government from a long time. The Delhi cops arrested 850 people on Saturday and Sunday for flouting the norms of the National Green Tribunal's blanket ban. All these are spotted using firecrackers after reported requests made by the government. 1206 cases are registered by the Delhi police as per the information on their official twitter page.

"The action taken by Delhi Police in connection with fire crackers during Diwali Night 14 November, 2020. Case Registered including Kalandras = 1206. Total Number of  Person Arrested including Boundown = 850. Crackers Seized = 1314.42Kgs and 106 Pieces" posted Delhi police on their official twitter handle. 165 people have been arrested from outer North Delhi. The best performing regions of Delhi were New Delhi and Central Delhi. 17 and 15 cases have been registered respectively in these regions. The cases are registered under Section 188 and Section 107/151. All the 850 people arrested will be presented before the magistrate.

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee imposed a complete ban on the firecrackers. The National Green Tribunal announced their decision of ban on November 9th.
