Karnataka Governor HR Bhardwaj and Tripura Governor Devanand Konwar have retired today. Tamil Nadu Governor Rosaiah, Mizoram Governor Vakkom B Purushothaman have been given the additional charge of the two states respectively. Both the governors are appointed by the UPA government. Bhardwaj took charge in 2009 while Konwar was appointed in 2013. The BJP government will appoint new governors only after the Parliament sessions and will also replace several appointees of the UPA government.
