The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has been closed for traffic due to heavy rainfall over the past few days. The officials have shut the 434 kilometres highway, which is the only road link that connects the Valley with the rest of the country. The MeT department reported that the Kashmir valley received snow about 1.5 feet high and there are chances of rainfall.
On the other hand, the temperature is continuing to register low. Srinagar recorded a low of 1.8 degree Celsius while Leh was the coldest recorded place in the state with a low of minus 6.2 degrees. With the highway being close, over 400 passenger vehicles were stranded on the roads.
