Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has clarified that his government will not go back on the new liquor policy introduced in the state. Kerala government has limited the bar license to only five star hotels in this new policy and wants to implement the complete prohibition in the next 10 years.
With this new liquor policy, Kerala government will have a revenue loss of Rs 7,000 crores and besides this notices have been issued to 312 bars to close down the business by September 12th. However, opposition parties are opposing this move of the government and claimed that ban on liquor would not only affect revenue but will also have impact on tourism specially from the foreign tourists.
