Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was discharged from AIIMS hospital on Monday after recovering from an infection that followed a stomach operation to treat diabetes. Jaitley was admitted to a private hospital in New Delhi on September 1 for gastric bypass surgery to treat weight gain he has suffered because of a long-standing diabetic condition.

As people started visiting Jaitley, he was shifted to government run AIIMS hospital and was moved to isolation ward to avoid infection. Jaitley also holds Defence ministry  and his absence resulted in  concerns about slow decision-making, including delays to appointments of official.
