India on Tuesday was re-elected to the United Nations Human Rights Council [UNHRC] for the period 2015-2017, receiving the highest number of votes in the Asia-Pacific group. Four seats were up for the elections and India is competing with Indonesia, Bangladesh, Qatar, Thailand, Kuwait, Cambodia, Philippines and Bahrain.
India managed to 162 votes, the highest number for Asia-Pacific group. The three term office at United Nations will begin from January 1st 2015.
